Attention old-school death metal fans, zombie/horror culture freaks and general savages… the debut full-length from Austrian deathsquad ZOMBIE INC. has arrived.

ZOMBIE INC. may be a new name to the death metal scene, but some of the henchmen involved this gory, plodding debauchery will surely raise some interest… namely former Pungent Stench vocalist Martin Schirenc’s return to the death metal scene! Schirenc’s guttural oral thunder is brutally backed by guitars from songwriting mastermind Wolfgang Rothbauer (Disbelief, Eisblut, etc.) and Gerald Huber (Collapse 7), low-end from bassist Daniel Lechner (The Cascades, ex-Lacrimas Profundere) and the percussive onslaught of Tomasz “Nefastus” Janiszewski (Belphegor, Fleshcrawl, Debauchery).

The individual potent collective of talents coalesce on ZOMBIE INC.’s debut, A Dreadful Decease, a gore-obsessed 41-minute stompfest loaded with the instinctive, intuitive and aggressive stylings of the death metal of the ’90s, bringing names like Entombed, Autopsy, Dismember, Obituary, Deicide, Edge of Sanity and Gorefest to the chopping block. A Dreadful Decease runs rampant with horrific, apocalyptic zombie themes, both lyrically, atmospherically and visually, bearing professional artwork by SeasonZero Design. The album was recorded and mixed by Martin Schirenc at Vato Loco in Austria, and mastered by Dan Swanö (Edge of Sanity, Nightingale, Bloodbath) at Unisound in Sweden, who referred to the band as “great music… old-school, the perfect way.”

Check out “The Chaosbreed” and “Bloodrain Overdose” via the band’s Myspace page now.

A Dreadful Decease will see North American release on Tuesday, February 14th via Massacre Records. Promos of the album are available for review now. In North America contact earsplitpr@aol.com and outside of the continent contact tom.hack@massacre-records.de.

A Dreadful Decease Track Listing:

1. The Chaosbreed

2. Deadtribe Sinister

3. Challenge Of The Undead

4. Horde Unleashed

5. We Must Eat!

6. Bloodrain Overdose

7. Grim Brutality

8. Horror Fills This Hollow Earth

9. A Dreadful Decease.

10. Planet Zombie

ZOMBIE INC. lineup:

As posted via KILLSWITCH ENGAGE‘s Facebook:

“Killswitch Engage are pleased to announce that they have filled the singer vacancy in the band and they have done so with a familiar face: original vocalist Jesse Leach.

Leach sang on the band’s first self-titled album, which came out in 2000, and on their landmark 2002 Roadrunner debut Alive or Just Breathing. Leach left the band in 2002 and was replaced by Howard Jones, but his work on Alive or Just Breathing has always been revered by diehard, longtime KsE fans. Things have come full circle a decade later, and Leach and the band couldn’t be more pleased about this reunion.

The band revealed that Leach auditioned for the job he once held and pretty much blew everyone away and then some. The band stated, “After much deliberation and careful consideration, we are pleased to announce that Jesse Leach has rejoined Killswitch Engage. Our job was to find the best person to fill Howard’s shoes: a decision based on talent and not familiarity.”

The band further said, “Truth be told, Jesse blew us away in auditions. The room seemed charged with electricity. He commanded both new and old material, and proved, beyond a shadow of a doubt, that he wanted to do this. The choice became very clear and apparent.”

The band also is psyched to share the news with fans, saying, “This change is very exciting. We know you’re going to love it. This is truly a new era in KsE history and it is ready to shred your face off. So, please help us in welcoming Jesse back into the KsE family; he is a rare and great talent, a fact that older KsE fans have known for years. Here is to a killer new record and a bright future. The five of us cannot wait to write this record and play shows together and bring that feeling to our fans. It’s been far too long.”

The “new” guy himself also commented on his return to the band after a decade-long absence, saying, “It is a great honor to rejoin my brothers after all of these years. After some discussion and much reflection, it was obvious to me this was the path I was meant to take. We got together and jammed on the ‘Howard-era songs,’ as well as some Alive or Just Breathing-era songs and we all felt the synergy.”

He continued, “I look forward to writing the new record, since the demos sound absolutely amazing, as well as breathing new life and getting comfortable with the soulful songs Howard has written. It is a new chapter of my life filled with new and exciting challenges. I will give all that I can to honor the position I have been given and take nothing for granted. I will sing every note with all of my soul. I am very blessed and very thankful to be back in the KsE family! All things happen in their due time and now is the time for this reunion and new direction.”

KsE remain hard at work on their latest album, which follows 2009′s second self-titled album. “

Bereft is a Los Angeles based melodic sludgy doom band featuring Sacha Dunable of Intronaut and Graviton, Derek Donley of National Sunday Law and Graviton, Charles Elliott of Abysmal Dawn and ex-The Faceless vocalist Derek Rydquist. Bereft released its first track “Withered Efflorescence” exclusively via their Facebook page in early September 2011 to rave reviews and online buzz, followed by their debut live show September 30 in Los Angeles, CA. Elliott has stated that Bereft is all about “dark, depressing doom… definitely different from what we do in our usual bands. It’s heavy as hell and we’re all really proud of how the record and collaboration came out, and we hope people feel the same way.” The debut album Leichenhaus , a conceptual album thematically revolving around a waiting mortuary, is due 4/24/12 on The End Records.

“Real music is birthed from pain, hatred, despair, suffering and regret… and this is our bastard child.”

***************************************************

The album revolves around two themes: the waiting mortuary and Sky Burial.

Waiting mortuary is a mortuary building designed by early cultures, in a time where the certainty of death was debatable, specifically for the purpose of confirming that deceased persons are truly deceased. To alleviate the fear of burying someone alive, the deceased were housed temporarily to look out for signs of life. Most popular in 19th Century Germany, they were ornate buildings with large bell towers to alert attendants of movement. Occasionally it has erroneously been thought this is where the phrase “Saved by the Bell” was born, as a living soul was saved from burial – it actually originates in the sport of boxing.

Sky Burial, or ritual dissection, is a funerary practice in Tibet, wherein a human corpse was incised in certain locations and placed on a mountaintop, exposing it to the elements (mahabhuta) and animals – especially to predatory birds. The locations of these “burials” are understood as charnel grounds. As many Tibetans are Buddhists, in which the idea of rebirth is adhered to, the body is seen as an empty vessel upon death. Sky Burial is in the simplest understanding, the easiest way to dispose of a body post mortem.

‘Leichenhaus‘ Tracklisting

1. Corpse Flower

2. Mentality Of The Inanimate

3. Withered Efflorescence

4. The Coldest Orchestra

5. A Cruel Mirage

6. Ethereal Dispersal

Battle metallers TURISAS will be heading back to North America this spring for “PaganFest: America Part III”, their first-ever US headlining run! Joining the Finnish sextet on their triumphant return to the States is a gathering of bands from across the world: Scotland’s ALESTORM, Rome’s EX DEO, Russia’s ARKONA, and the US’s very own HUNTRESS.

In regards to this upcoming tour, TURISAS front-man Mathias Nygard comments: “It took time, but finally we had a chance to make it back to North America. After many successful tours there with acts like CRADLE OF FILTH and DRAGONFORCE during the past few years, it’s great to return as a headliner. This is a killer combo with great variety– some of the most twisted acts of the folkier side of metal! Be prepared for a great night out– I expect to witness some crazy audiences!”

So don’t miss out! Check the dates below to see when TURISAS and “PaganFest” will be coming to a city near you.

Legendary guitarist JEFF LOOMIS has been in the studio the last few months working on his highly anticipated sophomore solo album, to be released later this year. Since entering the studio, LOOMIS has revealed a number of notable guests that will be appearing on the release and now, LOOMIS announces the newest special guest: IHSAHN, formerly of Norwegian black metal band EMPEROR and current solo artist. JEFF LOOMIS updates:

“I know most of you are aware that Christine Rhoades is doing some vocals on my album. At first I thought she’d be the only guest singer on the record but then this one song started coming together, it’s pretty brutal. I’ve always wanted to do really, really heavy music and after hearing this, both Aaron and myself thought we needed some crazy, sick singer on it. We just sat around tossing names out for a bit, nothing really was sticking and then Aaron says, ‘I got it…Ihsahn’ and it was one of those moments where you knew that was the answer all along, it just hadn’t been unlocked in your mind yet. Anyway, a few short emails back and forth and we had his vocal track in. It came out amazing. I can’t wait for you to hear it. Ihsahn, thanks again, it’s an honor to have you on my record.”

The new album will be produced by Aaron Smith (7 Horns 7 Eyes), and fans should keep their eyes peeled for previews of developing songs, studio updates and additional details.

Graf Orlock has completed work on its new EP, Los Angeles.

In keeping with its tradition of using Hollywood blockbusters as inspiration, Graf Orlock has based Los Angeles entirely on Michael Mann’s 1995 film, Heat, starring Robert De Niro and Al Pacino.

Los Angeles is the follow-up to last year’s acclaimed Doombox EP, which Decibel Magazine called, “a churning, eclectic barnburner evoking unrestrained masterpieces of yore such as Converge’s Petitioning the Empty Sky or even Deadguy’s Fixation on a Coworker.”

Doombox turned heads for its artwork as well as its music – the EP came packaged in an actual-size, card stock “boom box”. Previous Graf Orlock releases have boasted equally outrageous art — a gatefold LP with a pop-up “chestburster”, inspired by the movie, Alien, for example. The artwork for Los Angeles ups the ante once more: Graf Orlock guitarist Jason Schmidt reports that Los Angeles will sport three different collectible covers, each a “shooting range target” depicting a scene from Heat and riddled with actual bullet holes.

Los Angeles was recorded by Ronald Uruk at Backlot Studios in Graf Orlock’s hometown of LA. The EP will see a Spring 2012 release on the band’s own label, Vitriol Records (also home to releases by Ghostlimb, Birds In Row, and more).

From Blabbermouth.net:

David Gold, a founding member of the Ontario, Canada-based black and doom metal band WOODS OF YPRES, was killed last night (Thursday, December 22) in an accident near Barrie, Ontario. He was 31 years old. A memorial service is tentatively scheduled to be held in Gold‘s hometown of Sault Ste. Marie on December 28.

WOODS OF YPRES‘ new album, “Woods 5: Grey Skies & Electric Light”, will be released on January 31, 2012 via Earache Records. The CD was recorded with producer Siegfried Meier (KITTIE) at Beach Road Studios in Ontario, Canada, and was mixed by John Fryer (NINE INCH NAILS, PARADISE LOST).

Gold previously described “Woods 5: Grey Skies & Electric Light” as “a tighter, more effective WOODS OF YPRES for a broader audience of listeners young and old, new and loyal. A satisfying ‘press play and drive’ kind of album drawing the best from old WOODS, current WOODS and the WOODS yet to come on what will be a milestone album, our sixth in less than 10 years and nearing the 10th anniversary of the founding of the band. We’ve never sounded better and we’d never been fully satisfied with any recording, until now. 10 songs, just as much about modern life as death, existence, society, the forest, the city, hurt and love. Story-wise picking up where ‘Woods’ 4 and 4.5 left off, sound-wise evoking the feelings of ‘Woods I: Against The Seasons – Cold Winter Songs From The Dead Summer Heat’ and ‘Woods III: Deepest Roots & Darkest Blues’ with modern and futuristic tweaks. There is black metal, there is doom, there are ballads, there is pop, guitar solos, double bass, blasts, techno, dark humor, irony, reality, harmonies, uplifting hope to get you through the moment and crushing, irreversible sadness. I count a total of 7 genres in 10 songs. It’s a new WOODS OF YPRES album and I can’t wait wait for you to hear it!”

Formed in 2002, WOODS OF YPRES has earned critical acclaim for its ever-evolving, envelope-pushing mix of blackened doom metal. Most often compared to bands such as AGALLOCH and TYPE O NEGATIVE, WOODS OF YPRES toes a thin line between the catchy, the artistic and the extreme to create an unmistakable signature sound.”

We here at Teethofthedivine.com pass on our deepest condolences to the Gold family.

Willowtip has officially signed Sydney, Australia atmospheric death metal band Beyond Terror Beyond Grace. The label will release the band’s newest album, Nadir, on April 3rd, 2012. Recorded and mixed by Joel Taylor (The Abandonment, Encircling Sea) at Three Phase Studios in Melbourne, Australia over only two weeks in May 2011, Nadir captures a band completely in its natural element, defying genre categorization and ignoring all current musical trends. The artwork and layout was created by Colin Marks (Nevermore, All Shall Perish, Whitechapel, Strapping Young Lad) and can be previewed at the band’s Facebook page:

The end result is the bands most ambitious, atmospheric and realized effort yet. Cold, climactic and expansive, Nadir is a consuming experience of monolithic bleakness and dense majesty.

Beyond Terror Beyond Grace offer their comments:

“We’re extremely excited to be a part of the Willowtip family as it’s a label we’ve admired for a very long time and not to mention been big fans of the many high quality releases Willowtip has put out over the years, of which there is almost too many to name! Our forthcoming album ‘Nadir’ is by far our strongest to date and Willowtip has been very enthusiastic about it from the first listen, and we feel they are a perfect fit for us. We can’t wait to get the album out there and see what the next chapter has in store!”

Swedish deathcrust ensemble BOMBS OF HADES are the latest addition to the ever-pummeling Pulverised Records roster! Spawned in 2002 as a crustpunk act, BOMBS OF HADES quickly mutated into a gristly old-school Swedish death metal direction, while still retaining a strong d-beat/crust vibe. Fronted by Jonas Stålhammar (ex-God Macabre, ex-Utumno, etc), who recently served briefly with legendary Swedish thrashers The Crown, the band is now geared up for their second full-length, entitled A Serpent’s Redemption. The follow-up to 2010′s Chambers Of Abominations, released via Blood Harvest Records, is expected to drop sometime next year.

Commented Stålhammar: “BOMBS OF HADES are psyched to have the next album released through Pulverised. A Serpent’s Redemption will satisfy souls starved for some true old-school death metal and will be unleashed before the Summer of 2012.”

Added Pulverised Records A&R Manager Calvin Chiang: “BOMBS OF HADES are one band that have been on our radar for some time now. We finally thought it was time to seize the opportunity to grab them for a brand new record. To further confirm that our gut feeling was correct, our good old friend Ayong (founder of Pulverised Records) coincidentally recommended the band and strongly insisted we get BOMBS OF HADES on our roster by hook or by crook! Expect full-blown death metal abomination!”

BOMBS OF HADES:

Jonas Stålhammar – Vocals / Guitar

P-O Söderback – Guitar

Magnus Forsberg – Drums

Anders Ekman – Bass

FDA Rekotz is pleased to announce the addition of Spanish zombies GRUESOME STUFF RELISH to their roster. FDA Rekotz has plans to release the band’s next full-length album on CD and vinyl in the Spring of 2012. GRUESOME STUFF RELISH is one of the most intense death/grind bands to ever emerge from Spain’s metal scene. The band plays a fusion of old-school Swedish death metal like DISMEMBER or CARNAGE and the splatter/gore sound and feel of early CARCASS, IMPETIGO or NECRONY. G.S.R. was formed in 2000 by members of the early 90′s death metal band REPUGNANCE. G.S.R has released two full length albums along with several splits with the likes of Call The Paramedics, Engorged and more. The band’s concept revolves around their extreme love for the classic Italian horror films from the 60′s, 70′s and 80′s - Giallo films, cannibals, zombies, and other lurid tales of terror.

The second half of Seattle drone icons EARTH‘s Angels of Darkness, Demons of Light is being prepared for release on Southern Lord in North America this February 14th on CD, LP and digital download formats.

Recorded in the same two week session as 2011′s lauded Angels of Darkness, Demons of Light I by Stuart Hallerman at Avast and mastered by Mell Detmer, Angels of Darkness, Demons of Light II carries on in the freely and folkloric vein of the last release and invokes even more improvisational and unrestrained energy than its predecessor.

Angels Of Darkness, Demons Of Light II is striking in many ways, not least in the wildly improvised nature of this particular recording. The songs “Sigil Of Brass” and “The Corascene Dog” perfectly emphasize how the interplay between the foursome has evolved even further since the first installment. Meanwhile, the track “His Teeth Did Brightly Shine” veers further into an entirely other direction, recalling sounds of the great British Acid Folk generation. This new material brings forth some highly original and deeply mesmerizing tones throughout, at times more hopeful and less dark and death oriented than previous work. Angels Of Darkness, Demons Of Light II is ultimately a completely unanticipated direction for EARTH, and a very welcome one at that.

The line-up again consists of Adrienne Davies on drums and percussion (on this release there is more percussion of all sorts), Lori Goldston (Nirvana, David Byrne, Black Cat Orchestra, Laura Veirs) returns on cello, and Karl Blau (K Records, Laura Veirs, Microphones) plays bass. This also marks the first time the band on the record has toured outside of the US West Coast in preparation for the album. As with the first part, it again has truly amazing artwork by Stacey Rozich.

Angels Of Darkness, Demons Of Light II Track Listing:

1. Sigil of Brass

2. His Teeth Did Brightly Shine

3. Multiplicity of Doors

After taking a trip back in time with the Draconian Times MMXI DVD/live album (the London legacy show of their classic album from 1995) and also Gregor Mackintosh’s return to his crusty doom/death metal roots with VALLENFYRE (alongside his mates from MY DYING BRIDE, DOOM, and AT THE GATES), it’s now time for PARADISE LOST’s 13th studio album! Gregor Mackintosh (lead guitar) comments, ”We are currently holed up in The Chapel studios in Lincolnshire, England recording our new album which is entitled ‘Tragic Idol’. The album will again be produced by Jens Bogren and is influenced by classic doom metal and classic metal. I would say it is more melodic than the last record whilst retaining the heaviness. There are lots of guitar solos and melodies. The album will contain such track titles as ‘Honesty in Death’, ‘Theories from Another World’, ‘In this We Dwell’ and the title track ‘Tragic Idol’.”

Tragic Idol is scheduled for a worldwide release through Century Media Records on April 23rd, 2012 in Europe and April 24th, 2012 in North America. PARADISE LOST’s last studio album,Faith Divides Us – Death Unites Us (2009), entered the charts in over 10 European countries– most notably #22 in Germany and Finland, #29 in Sweden, and #45 in France.

Tour dates will be announced soon, but a few summer festivals have already been confirmed:

PARADISE LOST live:
3/16/12 — Hammerfest IV — Prestatyn, UK
6/22/12 — Graspop Metal Meeting — Dessel, Belgium
8/2/12 — Wacken Open Air — Wacken, Germany
8/4/12 — Metal Camp — Tolmin, Slovenia
8/10/12 — Brutal Assault — Josefov, Czech Republic
8/12/12 — Bloodstock Open Air — Catton Hall, UK

In the meantime, you can still enjoy the band’s new Draconian Times MMXI double DVD at home (available exclusively in North America at CM Distro ) until PARADISE LOST’s upcoming milestone of melancholic heaviness is released this spring.
Bringing two energetic but diversified contemporary hardcore acts together in one pure and primal slab of wax, NAILS and SKIN LIKE IRON will collaboratively self-release a split 7” EP this January.

San Francisco’s SKIN LIKE IRON have already become a well-known entity in modern hardcore with nearly ten releases on such admirable dissident hardcore labels as Six Feet Under and React Records. The split leads off with two tracks of their melodic, yet abrasive hardcore, boasting an ambitious and emotive energy that many similar contemporary acts lack in severely.

The B-side of this crushing joint venture is owned by NAILS, hailing from Oxnard, California (the same town as the legendary Dr. Know), and undoubtedly one of the most devastating acts within the present expanses of hardcore. As on their Southern Lord debut LP Unsilent Death NAILS get in, kill, and get out, just as fans expect on these two tracks, which are in fact a preview of what is to be expected of their upcoming full-length, now being constructed for release via Southern Lord in the first half of 2012.

This one-time pressing of 1000 copies will be split between a publicly available reserve of 900 copies on black wax and 100 copies on blue, available from the bands only. The artwork was handled by SKIN LIKE IRON’s Alex Capasso who has handled the art duties for previous releases for the band.

Stay tuned for preorder info, an exclusive stream of the release and more in the weeks ahead. Check out the artwork and more at this location.

SKIN LIKE IRON & NAILS Split 7” Track Listing:
