Review of Eighteen Wheels Burning - Tweak'd Out, Strung Up & Redlined

Label: Meteor City Records / Year: 2008 / Artist website

Back out dad’s El Camino, move the paint cans and grab a bunch of extension cords, it’s time to rock! Eighteen Wheels Burning are here to piss off the neighbors on a Tuesday night with their brand of loose, raw, aggressive Rock And Roll. It’s equal parts Garage Rock & Stoner Rock with hints of Blues…at times sounding like The Hellacopters jamming with Nebula.

“Mary Jane Is My Only Friend” packs an opening riff The Stooges would be proud of with a big groove on the pre-chorus. “Topless” carries a strong, raw groove itself, as does “King Of The Ian Hill”. The sweaty Rock of “Mobscene” is a stage-dive party waiting to happen. The “Third Reich Trucker” intro sounds like a laid back Blues jam in a smoky little shack on a dirt road before launching into another nice grooved out jam. The high energy swing/rock riffing on “The Wheeler” will get crowds bouncing all over each other and spilling their beers when they raise their fists and scream during the blistering Blues solo.

Anyway, the first paragraph was probably enough information for you to decide whether or not you’re going to check into this one. If you love loud, raw, grooved out Rock And Roll, then Tweak’d Out, Strung Up & Redlined is definitely worth more than a drive-by listening.

What else does one expect from Meteor City records? I’ve been listening to this a lot lately, suprised to see it reviewed here. Great stuff.
