Razor of Occam
Homage to Martyrs

Warning do not operate heavy machinery while listening to this disc until you are sure about how it will affect you. When I first heard of this band I knew it would be good, with the Destroyer 666 connection how could it not be? Highly talented veterans banding together to challenge each other to put out top notch material for the dedicated fans, I envisioned an Australian Thou Art Lord. After spinning the disc through the first couple of songs I’d describe it as Mortuary Drape with clear modern production values. Finely produced, clear and crisp. Tight musicianship, razor precision, riff dominated with a copious amount of intricate solos with gurgled screams and raspy growls. The pace is mostly fast, though never warp speed.

This is guaranteed to put a smile on your face. This is melodic without being pompous, technically proficient without being overly self indulgent. After repeated spins you will find yourself anticipating the riffs, solos, time changes, etc. This is stick in your head music not because it is simplistic and catchy but because it demands your undivided attention and rewards it so your full multitasking facilities are absorbed on one thing, this disc.

I can see there would be a legion of metalheads out there that would agree that the music is killer, “I could listen to this all day, but those vocals…” Yes the vocals squash any crossover appeal. Fans of more traditional metal should check it out but be forewarned, don’t let the slick production fool you, this is not watered down for the masses metal, prepare to have your head sliced off. Thank Necromorbus studios.

We waited awhile for the debut full length, now that it is here do not procrastinate, though at 33 minutes many fans would consider it another ep. Favorite songs “Immortal Code” and “Shadow of the Cross”.

It’s a good thing this album turned out to be good. ToTD would’ve looked pretty fucking stupid after running banner adds for Razor of Occam for like three months.
