Tidfall
Nucleus

What can I say about Tidfall? Industrial black electronica, a Dimmu Borgir and Kovenant clone. In a word, they suck. Now I guess I have to tell you why. The electronica/ samples are more intrusive, not a good thing. They lack intensity, are not ‘grim,’ fast, blasphemous, evil, tortured… or interesting. The production is not a problem, they are reasonably capable musicians playing a style I absolutely hate. If I was pressed to pick the better songs it would be “Nucleus” and maybe “Exo-Skeleton.” The vocals are nothing special, screaming along just like so many other bands, and occasionally trying to scream in tune… just not inspiring at all. I’ve listened to this disc straight through a few times and it has not grown on me. The atmospheric touches are nothing special and the guitars are equally derivative. Look for mp3 files before purchasing.
