Way back in my metal reviewing youth, I reviewed an album on Cold Blood Industries by a Dutch band called I.N.R.I ( aka Insane Non-Commercialized Rock Institute), called Hyper Bastard Breed -and boy was it ever a scorcher; a simply killer blend of high octane thrash and death metal done absolutely perfectly. Well, that album still gets regular play in my house, and I often wondered what happened to the band and if they were on a label seeing as Cold Blood Industries is no more. Then lo and behold, like a bolt out of the blue, I get a package from Canada’s new Disconcert Music, and this fucker is in it. And boy is it another scorcher.

You can literally feel 5 years of frustration and anger on this long awaited second album from I.N.R.I, and there blend of The Crown, early Carnal Forge, Defleshed with hints of pure death metal and classic grindcore is tighter, groovier and more scathingly melodic than ever and frankly, I don’t think there is an more aptly titled album full of such appropriately titled songs as on Ultra Sonic Hate Storm.

Just cranking utterly rampaging tracks like opener “The Power Violence”, “Fucked Up Beyond All Recognition”, “The Iron Deathslam”, “Thrash Until Found Worthy”, “Bullet Cumshot” and “1000 Pounds of Satan”, when delivered with Henri Veltink’s relentless screams and growls makes me want to punch babies, including my own. And this isn’t nice, clean, clinical, polished or ‘fun’ death thrash either; this is 38 minutes of skin blistering, virulent, nasty, violent and downright vicious yet somehow catchy metal. No fucking interludes, no intros (except for the Arabic chant that starts the savage “Culture Cunt”), no acoustics, no clean vocals, just frothing, rabid riffs and ferocious vocals and not a weak note on the entire album. Only the start of “Humanitron” gives you a brief respite with a slower gait, before eventually exploding into the same merciless gait as the rest of the album.

Armed with a razor sharp production and delivering a few solos on the way, Ultra Sonic Hate Storm is punched in the face with an armored gauntlet heavy and the fact Disconcert Music managed to get a deal to release it shows the label, even in their youth is going to be a major player in metal.

Welcome the fuck back I.N.R.I, now don’t make me wait another 5 years for your next album.
