Kill Everything
Headless Cum Dumpster

I was a huge fan of brutal TXDM band Kill Everything’s 2018 debut album Scorched Earth.  There were a few split releases since, but it’s not until the lovely titled Headless Cum Dumpster that we finally get the second album. Brian Wynn – Guitars and Shane Newbrough – Drums remain intact as the sole remaining members as the band has went through lineup shifts over the years. Rounding this album out are Brett Wilson Bass – Guitars, Johnny Abila – Vocals and Mike Leach – Bass. This is a very short album, with 8 songs in 26 minutes and with real brutal death metal, that is fine by me. I will say that this album is a mixed bag of sorts.

Fermented Drippings” opens the album with a spoken word/movie clip then right into a blast beat with the snare drum super loud and poppy. Our wonderful editor, Erik, will not be a fan of this sound. It is loud AF. The double bass is pummeling all in its path. The new vocalist Johnny is the standard guttural style of vocals, however there is nothing resembling a word or syllable. If the band writes lyrics for the album, I would consider it a moot point if the booklet has them printed, I can’t make out a single word. It’s a brutal song, but damn, there needs to be some enunciation in all of this.

Excoriated Integumental Sludge Altar” is up next and Shane is doing some crazy blasting, sounds like into the gravity blasting range. The stop and start moments are cool, and the riffs are heavy; they’re just a bit tough to make out. A lot of fuzz on those guitars which is cool but at times the production I find is kinda wack. It’s very bass heavy sounding with everything so it does help if you can adjust your sound preferences and make the album sound more trebly, dropping some of that bass. The muddiness then goes away a bunch and the album is better to listen to. There is a pretty crucial slam though, on this song that will get all the Texas pits swarming in unison.

The title track blasts like a mofo outta the starting gates, the song structure sounding a bit off, sloppy in places. The 1.45 slam is nice; however I truly wish that snare sound was not so grating, it’s a lot to handle. Some slower groove passages help make this song a bit more memorable. “Infatuated with Homicide” ends the album, similar to how it starts with the spoken word clips then the pop pop snare cuts through. I like how it comes in the beginning, then right into a nice groovy mid paced slam around the 1.15 timestamp. That is a heavy moment indeed. More blasting and the riffs over the double pounding moments are pretty well done. The slam at the 3 minute mark is crucial, nice riffing. The vocals are so monotone, and no offense, but he sounds like a bear throughout the recording and nothing separating him from a lot of the pack playing this style of death metal.

Headless Cum Dumpster is an uneven second album from Kill Everything. The production is off in places, certain parts come across as a bit sloppy and I already mentioned my dislike of the drum sound (not the drum playing) and the vocals are average at best. Kill Everything can do a lot better, especially since they released that destructive debut years ago. Come on guys pull it together for the next album!
