It was a happy day in Hell when Limbonic Art called it quits. All those demons got 24 hour a day concerts from the defunct duo. The international day of Slayer was a joyous day for those of us in this realm for 6-6-06 was the day that Daemon and Morfeus decided they had more ideas after all.

I can’t imagine there are too many fans of metal out there that do not have at least one Limbonic Art album in their collection so I should not have to give a stylistic description, but basically this is Symphonic black metal with a capital S, for those that can tell the difference between Schubert and Schumann. Legacy of Evil is their 5th full-length album 6th if you count the demo re-recordings of Epitome of Illusions. The powerful production they are known for almost from the beginning is once more on display, giving extra power to the black metal intensity and excellent depth and clarity to the symphonic passages.

The songs are as aggressive and intense as ever, yet this time it seems even more vicious because the balance between raging intensity and melodic majesty has shifted. If “Deathtrip To A Mirage Asylum” and “In Mourning Mystique” and “Towards The Oblivion Of Dreams” are among your all time favorites you can rest assured that Daemon and Morfeus have not forgotten their roots. “A Cosmic Funeral Of Memories” starts off the album with high-speed viciousness. But by the end of the song their entire bag of tricks has been unleashed. “Twilight Omen” is outstanding, especially with the vocals. “Seven Doors Of Death” has brutally heavy guitars and angst-ridden screams as well as shrieking distortions and great keyboard melodies floating throughout.

The album closes with the relentless “Unleashed From Hell” which proves once and for all that they don’t need Attila Csihar. One of the few bands that has never disappointed, yet my expectations grow higher with each release.
