Overock
Warp It

Overock hail from Italy, and play just that – rock. Rock accompanied by some electronica and bordering on nu-metal at times, I could easily see this being at least semi-huge on radio.

Boring, simple and repetitive riffs permeate the disc along with clean, and at times almost whiny vocals, drums that add nothing to the mix other than keeping the pace, and the occasional funky bass line. The band seems to borrow a bit from System of a Down in terms of quirkiness, such as “Acid Behaviour”, “Damp”, and “Perfect Puddle”, while “The Wrong Place” is reminiscent of early Gravity Kills. Album opener “The Thin Shape of a Dawn” is the most straight-forward upbeat rock song to be found among the remaining album tracks, which are on the slower, ballad-y side of things.

If you like rock, and like it quirky, then this is for you. As far as I’m concerned, this one belongs in file 13 – there’s no aggression, and it’s boring and repetitive – two things that get you nowhere fast in my book – next.
