The wait is finally over. Philly’s underground legends, Goreaphobia are back with a vengeance. A vengeance entitled Mortal Repulsion. This long-awaited full-length debut from one death metal’s pioneers is a bludgeoning, yet calculated, masterclass in old-school death metal. In an era where trends, tricks and toddlers have pockmarked our beloved and bloody metal scene with a slew of half-assed efforts, Goreaphobia has taken it upon themselves to reteach a long forgotten lesson in brutality. On August 18th, Goreaphobia and Ibex Moon Records will unleash the beast that is Mortal Repulsion and not a single soul will be spared.

To coincide with the release of Mortal Repulsion, Goreaphobia has struck out on a North American tour with the equally legendary Master and labelmates Dreaming Dead. This trek across the States, the band’s first in over 17 years, will be more than just an opportunity to re-acquaint Goreaphobia with the hordes of maniacs who have kept their name alive throughout the years, but will also allow them to showcase new material from their highly anticipated full-length debut, Mortal Repulsion. If you consider yourself a fan of quality death metal, then you cannot miss this chance to see two of the 90’s most legendary names together on one stage! Guitarist Alex Bouks offers these words in regards to what promises to be the summer of brutality:
“We are excited to unleash our dark metal magick across the U.S. after all these years. The tour will coincide with the release our new record Mortal Repulsion. We will be showcasing our brand of dark, blackened heavy metal . Jim, Chris and myself are looking forward to see all you metal tyrants on the road.”

Goreaphobia Bio:
At the height of the late 1980s the thrash and death metal underground was headed toward a new and exciting change, when a Philadelphia based extreme, darkened, death metal entity named Goreaphobia was born. Alex Bouks (guitars) Chris Gamble (bass/vocals) founded the band in the summer of 1988. Alex and Chris had the same interest in extreme underground metal music. The style, sound, and lyrical concepts were influenced by some of the most inspiring, and pioneering bands of our time, bands like Repulsion, Necrovore, Pentagram (Chile), Necrophagia, Possessed, Carnivore, Voivod, Hellhammer/Celtic Frost, and Autopsy; to name just a few.

In the summer of 1990, Goreaphobia released into the global metal underground scene their first demo. The band has had great worldwide success and support from fanzines, radio shows, record labels, and the strong underground fan attendance at their shows. Goreaphobia has shared the stage with countless well known and respected metal acts such as Morbid Angel, Nocturnus, Sepultura, Napalm Death, Carcass, Repulsion, Autopsy, Death, Incantation, Entombed, and Unleashed. With only one demo, and a 7″ EP released by Relapse Records in 1991 named Omen of Masochism, Goreaphobia embarked on a large North American tour as the support act for New York death metal masters Immolation in the summer of 1992. Approximately one year later, the band decided to part ways, deciding to continue on to new ventures and other side projects.

Through these times the strength and charisma of Goreaphobia still remained as strong as ever! Now in 2008 the renewed and compelling power of Goreaphobia has re-ignited both Alex and Chris to reconnect and continue the passion for the musical entity Goreaphobia. Now with a shining new soul of darkness and ravenous musical inspiration, Goreaphobia has become stronger and more seriously focused than ever before.
With the help of long time friends John McEntee and Jim Roe (Incantation) they focused on writing new material. In 2008 the band played many live shows to prove to the metal world that the band is back and better than ever. Goreaphobia entered Neanderthal Studios to record their long overdue and highly anticipated debut record, Mortal Repulsion. Produced by the band, Goreaphobia has created a record full of darkness, atmosphere and full-on aggression to be released through Ibex Moon Records.

The band is gearing up for many upcoming live assaults to promote Mortal Repulsion. Goreahphobia is in the process making a feature video for the album’s title track. Look out, as Goreaphobia has been recharged and is focused on worldwide metal domination!

Mortal Repulsion will be available in stores and through Ibex Moon Records on August 18th. Prepare yourselves for a new era of intensity. Prepare for the new era of Goreaphobia!
