Highly influential Swedish metal band IN FLAMES’ new music video – for the song ‘Alias’ — makes its online premiere today via MTV’s ‘Headbangers Blog’. Check it out now at this location. The video will make its world television premiere this Saturday, September 6 as part of the network’s long-running ‘Headbangers Ball’ program. ‘Headbangers Ball’ airs Saturday nights beginning at 12:00 AM EST on MTV2.

“Alias” is the second single from IN FLAMES’ critically acclaimed new album A Sense of Purpose. The band shot the video for “Alias” just outside of its hometown of Gothenburg. The clip was directed and produced by Patric Ullaeus of Revolver Film Company and features performance footage of IN FLAMES — shot in full HD — augmented by “breathtaking visual effects”. Ullaeus has worked with the band previously, creating videos for the IN FLAMES tracks “Take This Life”, “My Sweet Shadow” and “The Quiet Place” among others. IN FLAMES has announced a North American headlining tour in support of its critically acclaimed new album, A Sense of Purpose. The month-long tour will launch on November 6 in Montreal, QC and will run through December 10 in Milwaukee, WI. The major market IN FLAMES tour is the band’s first North American headlining trek in support of A Sense of Purpose and follows the quintet’s red hot summer North American “Gigantour” live dates as hand-picked direct support for heavy music legends Megadeth. Support on the tour will be provided by Massachusetts’ All That Remains, France’s Gojira and Alaska’s 36 Crazyfists.

Advance ticket pre-sales for the IN FLAMES tour began on August 26 via Artist Arena (http://tixx1.artistarena.com/inflames/ [Username: inflames / Password: tickets]), with general public on-sales slated to start on the weekends of September 5-6 and 12-13.

Additionally, IN FLAMES will release a special Hot Topic-only EP on October 14. The exclusive EP will contain the roll out single from A Sense of Purpose (“The Mirror’s Truth”) as well as the unreleased tracks “Eraser”, “Tilt” and “Abegnation”.

A Sense of Purpose debuted at #28 on Billboard’s Top 200 and shifted over 20,000 units in its first week of release this past April, marking it as the highest charting record in the band’s sales history. The album is IN FLAMES’ debut release for KOCH Records, and ninth full length album overall. Recorded at the band’s IF Studios in Gothenburg, Sweden and mixed by Toby Wright (Metallica, Slayer), the album has yielded the explosive single “The Mirror’s Truth”, which also appears on the soundtrack for the smash hit video game Madden NFL 09 alongside a multi-genre roster of superstar acts. Madden NFL is the biggest-selling sports franchise in videogame history.

IN FLAMES is one of the pioneers of what has become known as “the Gothenburg sound” (also referred to as “melodic death metal”) and has influenced scores of metal / hard rock acts since its formation in 1990. The band has won three Swedish Grammis Awards (equivalent to Grammy Awards) and shifted nearly 2,000,000 albums over the course of its distinguished career.
