Amorphis were brilliant back in the day. I consider Tales From The Thousand Lakes to be one of the BEST death metal albums of all time. I haven’t really listened to a lot of modern Amorphis…but their DM era was a good time to be alive.

I’ve ahd this for a while and am still loving it.

Joutsen’s voice is superior in every aspect, it really surprises me when people think otherwise, but that’s just the way of things I guess.

I’m not sure why this is sacrilege though – I enjoy re-recordings/re-workings when thry’re done right (which this one seems to be) as it does add a fresh new take on old material, and brings the songs up (in production terms) to their more recent standards. If it means they will play more of them live I can’t see any reason why anyone would think this album is a bad idea?

Sweeet, two Amorphis releases this year, Skyforger only came out last year and they are currently in the studio recording a new album for next year. Sure can’t complain if you an Amorphis fan.

Great collection of songs, and more Tomi Joutsen can only be a good thing.

My one complaint? No “Black Embrace”? *CRYING* That ending was phenomenal.
