Review of Facefuck - Domain of Perverted Pleasures EP

Label: Rotten Music / Year: 2014 / Artist website

There is so much superficially wrong with the debut EP from Australia’s not so subtly named Facefuck that screams ‘godawful goregrind’; the name the cover, programmed drums, frog burp vocals, the logo, the song titles (“Indiginous Ectoplasmic Rectal Invasion”, “Infected Labial Secretion Obsession”), the over use of samples (including  some  from the movies Scary Movie 2, Superbad and Anchorman- so you get some idea of the expected toilet humor involved here). But once you get past all of that, Domain of Perverted Pleasures EP actually delivers a pretty solid, if by the numbers of knuckle dragging, grinding, slammy brootality.

7 songs, 11 minutes is all you get here  and above and beyond the inherent tropes of the genre (see opening paragrah), the songs are actually pretty well done, balancing punky grindcore and plenty of sick slams. Like this review, it’s simple, to the point and certainly isn’t the worst example of the genre Ive heard. From “Voracious Oral Prolapse” to “Vas Deferans Fusion Oesophagus”, Facefuck for lack of a better fuck your face with down-tuned blasts, bass drops, burps gurgles and grooves. The riffs are expectedly rooted in classic Blood Duster, with “Uber Omni Vulva” being particularly effective.

Rotten Music is a new UK based label and with this and the labels other first release, Vomit Your Brain‘s, Beauty of Morgue EP, the label’s mission is clear and these two bands and releases are pretty solid offerings.

Good tunes. They actually remind me of The Mung. Hopefully they put out a full length.
