The album was already done before Gus G. became Ozzy’s guitarist. Gus’s contribution was limited to solos on this record. If Kevin Churko wrote this, he could easily start a Black Label Society cover band if he wanted to. :P

I’d prefer to listen to Scream rather than Black Rain = I’d prefer to have terminal cancer rather than AIDS. (Apologies to people with either disease)

I read that, too. If Churko wrote them, then he’s a dead-on Wylde imitator, because the structure, the sound, everything about most of the riffs screams Wylde. I wanted to hear what Gus could do as well — I mean, isn’t the point of bringing in a new guy to bring in new ideas? Hopefully Gus won’t get the Joe Holmes treatment.

Ozzy claims in Guitar World that producer Kevin Churko came up with the riffs – but I don’t have the CD, so maybe the song credits are given to Zakk? It doesn’t matter regardless – from the two tracks I’ve heard, your assessment that it sounds like Zakk is spot on. I was interested in this until I heard Gus hadn’t done any of the writing. If he does for the next one (if there is a next one), I’ll give that one a listen.

I also like Ozzmosis, and everything from then on has been total shit. Haven’t heard this one and I don’t want to.

The fact that this man is still walking and releasing horrid albums and Ronnie James Dio is dead is 10000%, stone solid proof that there is no god.

This album blows, just as the last two have. Ozzmosis was the last album that I really, really liked. His vocals are indeed weak, and the riffs as well. I too hoped Gus G would kick some life into the outfit as I used to be a huge fan, but it’s simply not the case. It’s time for him to hang it up – long past due.

The last three sentences of the review pretty much sum up how I feel about it all. I have only listened to Scream twice, and though I’m not sure yet how much I lke the record, I definitely like it way better than Black Rain. Some riffs, solos and melodies are really good while other parts just don’t do anything for me at this point.
