sorry- this is a mess of an album – Mameli could not decide if hwe wanted Sphere or Consuming Impulse and ended up with a mish mash. The only, redeeimg track is the redo of “Out of the Body”- one of my fave death metal songs eva!

Good review Scott. This is the first positive press I’ve read about this album. The other reaction’s I’ve read have been pretty tepid, but they struck me as coming from reviewers who were looking for something more immediately hooky by today’s standards. It sounds like you really put the time in with this one and gave a much more balanced report….

….Though for the record I’m none too interested in a version of Pestilence without Martin van Drunen’s sick vocals.

gotta agree with this review for the most part. Though not a grower for me, this album hit me right from the get go. Good shit!!!!

I agree with your comment about this album being a “grower.” I was not overly impressed with it initially, but now it’s really starting to sink in.

It’s still no Testimony of the Ancients, though…that album cannot be surpassed in awesomeness!
