Hardworlder is their best album and pure fucking genius. The Animal Spirits is a big improvement over Ape Uprising though, which really didn’t do it for me.

great write up Jodi, I’m sold. I remember when these guys used to play around SF as The Lord Weird Slough Feg, but I’ve never given them their proper due. Guess it’s time o start.

Huge Slough Feg fan , here. I was kinda let down with this album after the excellent Ape Uprising and Hardworlder before it. Animal Spirits really drags in the middle for me. Tracks 3 – 7 are much to same-y to my ears. Very slow and plodding, with nothing catching my ear. “The Tell Tale Heart”, is simply divine, though. My favorite song on here by a country mile. I also really love “Second Coming”…great mournful melodies on that one.

A great album compared to any other band, but a bit of a let down in the Slough Feg cannon, in my opinion.
