I can’t quite put my finger on why I’m enjoying this blistering little 23 minute EP more than say, heavily lauded country mates Craven Idol or 2/3 of Hell’s Headbangers roster. There are only 5 actual songs (there is an intro “Heathen Visions” and another instrumental, “Unholy Orders”), so there isn’t even that much actual music to sink my teeth into, but 21 or so remaining minutes of riffs and snarls make my toes curl for some reason.

The guitar tone is crisp yet gritty, the riffs have a buzzing Darkthrone sort of punk back bone and the effort drips with feral energy. Also- I get a bit of an Infernal Stronghold vibe. Helping my enjoyment is  the lyrics and themes which are less booze and more Satan, but not playfully so or forced. Highlights include the more raging blasts of “All Conquering Death” and ‘The Devil’s Whore” armed with similar but savage riffage.

Cultfinder are not particularly creative, as “Morbid Breed” has similar gait and sneer to the above mentioned tracks, but is sure is enjoyable. But then “Drink to the Devil” slows things down a bit to a blackened swagger before “The Scourging Angel” ends the ripping little EP with more black thrash shreddage – nostalgically simple and vicious, but not dusty or forcibly old school like some other stuff I’ve gotten for review recently like Sadistic Ritual.

I’m pretty excited about this abnd and the promise of a full length at some point in the near future.
