Asia were the prog supergroup responsible for such bloated AOR standbys as “Don’t Cry,” “Wildest Dreams,” and the tune that propelled the Steve Carell vehicle The 40 Year-Old Virgin into the home theaters of…well, 40 year-old virgins, “Heat of the Moment.” They’re also on tour now with the original line-up, boasting a free show at Mohegan Sun Casino. While standing in line, a stocky older guy who looks a bit like Tom Jones approaches us and offers us front-row seats. Skeptical but curious, we follow him into the venue, and sure enough, we’re seated in a private booth at center stage. Turns out this guy is Jimmy Pine, world champion blackjack player, who just finished some consulting for the new film 21, starring Kevin Spacey. So, a night of greatest hits, able covers of King Crimson’s “In the Court of the Crimson King” and Yes’s “Roundabout,” and Pine’s tall tales of excess…what’re the odds?
