Enslaved – E

Contextually, this album was a challenge for me to write. As a fifteen year old some twenty two years ago I was fortunate enough to Bergen Norway’s Enslaved at Mirage in Minneapolis along with fellow Osmose Productions label mates at the time, Absu.  Unfortunately for me Mirage in Minneapolis has not existed for many years […]

Biesy – Noc Lekkich Obyczajów

As a metal reviewer there is no greater feeling than stumbling upon something that is mind-blowingly awesome.  I hope 2017 continues along this trend of new amazing bands popping up from all over the world because it definitely seems like each week I am finding more and more releases from around the world that are […]

Eyexist – The Digital Holocaust

Well this is definitely an album I missed out on last year and wish I would have discovered it sooner.  In 1995 a band from Quebec called Gorelust released an album called Reign of Lunacy that came out on New World Symphony records.  Fast forward twenty two years later and we have Eyexist, a […]

Broken Hope – Mutilated and Assimilated

Broken Hope has been a force in the United States Death Metal scene for nearly thirty years now.  Jeremy Wagner has really done an outstanding job rebuilding the group and keeping the style of death metal that they have played for nearly three decades fine-tuned and meticulously written.  Here we have their sixth full length […]

Displeased Disfigurement – Origin of Abhorrence

SLAM! In South Africa! I was recommended to check out these guys by one of our writers and editors Erik Thomas.  First thing that came to my mind was whether or not there was a band called Pleased Disfigurement as well but that is a topic for a later date.  Having been around since 2001 […]

Decrepit Birth – Axis Mundi

I cannot keep emphasizing what a busy summer it has been for Death Metal for groups here in North America.  Just when I think I am caught up on all of them another comes out and absolutely blows me away.  My infatuation with Decrepit Birth began some almost eighteen years ago when I was on […]

Birdflesh/ Organ Dealer – Split

Well this is a fun split to get to review what being that both bands just played Maryland Death Fest days ago with sets virtually a few hours apart.  What we have here is a unique display of two different grind core bands.  I must admit I am not too familiar with Sweden’s Birdflesh other […]

Interview With Vomit Remnants

Vomit Remnants have been a force in the international death metal community for over twenty years. It has been nearly twenty years since they last released a full-length album. 2017’s Hyper Groove Brutality released on Unique Leader Records is an album that was not without challenges. In this TeethoftheDivine.com interview I have a conversation with Keisuke the drummer of Vomit Remnants. We go over Japanese language, the influence of Internal Bleeding. The bands that influenced them and what the challenges were in reforming Vomit Remnants and finding a label to work with. We also get into some of Keisuke favorite bands and talk about the scene in Japan.

Origin – Unparalleled Universe

Well Nuclear blast definitely has a busy summer ahead for brutal United States Death Metal Releases.  Between Origin, Suffocation and Decrepit Birth I wonder which one or two or all three will be on this year’s Summer Slaughter Tour. Time will tell for sure.  One thing is for sure Kansas’s Origin are not wasting any […]

Below – Upon A Pale Horse

Well this was a pleasant surprise.  To be quite honest I had never heard of this group prior to delving into massive quantities of new 2017 releases.  Sweden’s Below have been around since 2012 and Upon a Pale Horse is their second full length release.  Opening up with “The Plague Within”. The beginning of this […]

Profanity – The Art of Sickness

Well this is a bit of an under the radar tech/death surprise.   Germany’s Profanity have certainly been around for a while with The Art of Sickness being their 3rd full length release and have been around since 1994. The Art of Sickness kicks off with “The Great Obstacle” which will leave you dizzy from all […]

Sarcasm – Within The Sphere of Ethereal Minds

Well this is definitely something I have been missing for a while. Awesome! Veteran Swedish melodic blackened death metallers Sarcasm have returned with their 2nd full length album Within the Sphere of Ethereal Minds.  It is interesting that these guys started off way back in ’92 and continued to gradually continue releasing smaller released pieces […]

Hideous Divinity – Adveniens

Man, it never ceases to amaze me how much Italian Death Metal Bands love the Floridian style of death metal.  Not that is by any means a bad thing by any means and it most certainly has been a busy year for Italian Death Metal with Hour of Penance releasing Cast a First Stone on […]

Abuse – Nothing is Safe

Last year I reviewed Neurogenic’s Ouroboric Stagnation which was a bit of an international death metal supergroup featuring Lord Marco Pitruzella of Six Feet Under on drums.   Fast forward, present date, April 2017 and Comatose has birthed a new offering from Vancouver Canada in the form of Abuse, also featuring Lord Marco Pitruzella on drums. […]

Azarath – In Extremis

Poland’s Azarath return with their sixth studio album, In Extremis.  Founded by Behemoth’s drummer Inferno, Azarath play a style of blackened death metal a kin to Krisiun, Behemoth, and maybe Diabolic to throw an American band in there. In Extremis opens up with “The Truimph of Ascending Majesty” which opens up with cackling whammy bar […]

Royal Thunder – Wick

Atlanta’s Royal Thunder have developed into quite the rock outfit. I enjoyed their last album Crooked Doors that came out back in 2015.  WICK has quite a different vibe from previous efforts, and this is shown right away with the opening track, “Burning Tree.” Opening up with some trancy, psychedelic-type guitar chord progressions, Mlny Parsonz […]

Nidingr – The High Heat Licks Against Heaven

Man, Season of Mist are consistent in their ability to find amazingly diverse artists to add to their roster.  Nidingr’s Third Full length record The High Heat Licks Against Heaven is another prime example of Season of Mist being able to deliver amazing releases. Teloch and company continue to develop their unique style of perverted […]

Deivos – Endemic Divine

Alright, we are just ending February and the tech death is going to just keep coming this year and I would like to alert you of a band that has a dynamite sound, Deivos. I had to go back and listen to their 2015 release Theodicy which at the time I thought was an outstanding […]

Drip, The – The Haunting Fear of Inevitability

Well this is quite the slab of death tinged crusty grind core that will undoubtedly help 2017 get off to a smashing start. Washington’s The Drip are absolutely playing for keeps with their debut release The Haunting Fear of Inevitability.  “Blackest Evocation” get things off to a face ripping start. Brandon Caldwell’s vocals remind […]

Face of Oblivion – Cataclysmic Desolation

Boy Comatose Music have had a busy year!  With releases like Neurogenic Dehumanized, Desecrate the Faith and Blasphemer (to name a few) it has already been a solid and consistent run of brutal death metal.  Adding to their catalog is the 2nd studio album from Minnesota’s Face of Oblivion.  Cataclysmic Desolation is a transitional […]

Ablaze My Sorrow – Black

Say what one will about the Melodic Swedish death metal movement of the 1990’s but it hard to not look at the impact of this particular genre going all the back to groups like In Flames, Dark Tranquility and Soilwork.  You had your first wave of bands and then your secondary waves of groups coming […]

Internal Suffering – Cyclonic Void of Power

This has been a busy year for Unique leader Records with releases like First Fragment, The Zenith Passage, Inanimate Existence, Lord of War, Deceptionist, Destroying the Devoid and Carnophage. With as chaotic as their summer release schedule it would be quite easy to have missed out on this one. Woah! This one of definitely a rager! Formerly […]

Neurogenic – Ouroboric Stagnation

Well this one was well worth the wait as Comatose presents a really good one with Neurogenic, an international technical slam death super group (If there is such a group. These guys are it and there are a ton of guest musicians on this).Featuring Marco Pitruzzella of Six Feet Under/Sleep Terror/Anomalous handling the drum work […]

Blood Red Throne – Union of Flesh and Machine

Norway’s Blood Red Throne return with their eighth studio album. For those of you that are not familiar with this group was started by Dod (Satyricon) and Tchort (Emperor) and have been around since 1998 and they play a murderously American style of brutal old school death metal. Union of Flesh and Machine opens with “Revolution […]

Virus- Memento Collider

Around twenty or so years ago I was fortunate enough to purchase a black metal compilation called Blackened Vol 1.  Of all the bands on this compilation that made a distinct impression on me was a group from Norway called Ved Buens Ende. Ved Buens Ende at that time played a unique style of avant […]
