Pedigree
Growing Apart

Note, I originally reviewed this album for Deadtide a few months ago but my opinion hasn’t changed on it in the least.Pedigree is industrial dirge from Estonia. This is some pretty good stuff mixing in bits of Isis, Therapy? and their most prominent influence, Godflesh. The bass is what reminds me a lot Isis, due to its heavy but clean sound. The vocals however are very similar to the clean vocals of Justin Broadrick. As the album goes on the Godflesh similarities get more noticeable, specifically the album Songs of Love and Hate, their most underrated album. Like Godflesh they do employ a drum machine, but it does seem like a real drummer at times to me, I guess due to the sound. They mix in random noise with the midpaced dirge and vocals of Love and Hate quite a bit, and I also recognize a few of the beats, specifically the song “Skincrawler” which reminds me a lot of “Hunter”. They do pick up the pace on the song “Formulas for Freedom” which reminds me a lot of Teethgrinder by Therapy?

I suppose I should probably get mad at this album as I have heard most of this before but for some reason this all clicks with me in a way that makes it seem not so recycled. I think it’s due to the fact that they can mix in Oceanic-era Isis with the heavier Godflesh and it clicks right away. To be honest it clicks for me better than Oceanic ever did. If you’re in the mood for some good industrial to relax to, more than destroy to then this is probably your ticket here. I know it works damn good for me.
